I have had amazing experiences with the dental work itself. However, the scheduling and confirming of appointment times is chaotic with multiple notifications and a lack of consistency across platforms (MyChart, texts, and calls). Below are my experiences. These issues might seem minor to some but they have contributed to frustration and wasted time. I share specifics for a few reasons. One, I have spoken to staff about these experiences every time but the issue persists. There doesn't seem to be another way to provide this feedback. So I don't know if the message is actually reaching those who would care to ensure this is fixed. Two, hopefully I can warn people who don't have a flexible schedule so that they can be prepared. Three, to help those who get frustrated with technology to let you know you are not going crazy if you have shared similar experiences that have caused you confusion. 1. SHOWED UP AT SCHEDULED TIME & THEY WERE CLOSED - My first routine appointment was scheduled for a Saturday which was scheduled months in advance onsite. I showed up and the doors were locked. I went into the office that following Monday to figure out what happened. They told me they don't take appointments on Saturdays but someone had scheduled me that day. I received no communication the week of to tell me about this issue even though I had received texts and emails to confirm my appointment. 2. CONFUSION WITH NOTIFICATIONS FOR "MULTIPLE APPOINTMENTS" - My second routine appointment was the first time it was scheduled with both my hygienist and dentist at this location. I received multiple emails and texts requesting that I confirm my appointment. I continued to receive these after confirming. When questioning this onsite, I was told that I needed to confirm the two appointments, one with the hygienist and one with the dentist. As a patient, at least from my experience with other dentists and healthcare providers, if I schedule an appointment, I don't think of each specialist as individual appointments unless I literally scheduled an appointment each one separately. Going to the dentist, at least from my experience at all other dental offices, has been considered one appointment regardless of how many specialists I need to see. The different chunks of time per specialist is backend information for the staff to know. I don't think of going in for my routine care as multiple appointments based on who I'm going to see. So this was very confusing and had me questioning multiple times if I had the time correct as well as if I actually had confirmed my appointment. I received emails from various platforms as well as multiple texts. 3. TIME CHANGE WITHOUT NOTIFICATION - Third routine appointment. I was scheduled for 3PM. I scheduled the appointment at my last visit onsite. Because of issues with scheduling in the past and MyChart being updated without any notification and/or tracking to show the changes, I requested the appointment confirmation card where they write the date, time, and purpose so that I had proof if anything changed digitally. I received a text requesting confirmation the Monday prior for my 3PM appointment to which I replied Yes. Then, the Wednesday prior I received a voicemail asking for confirmation and stating a 2PM time for my appointment. After receiving that call, I went online to MyChart to confirm the time which had the original time of 3PM. While doing so, I also noticed it was requesting confirmation via MyChart even though I confirmed via text. So I confirmed a second time. The day of the appointment about two hours prior, I happened to be on MyChart for reasons unrelated to dental work. I noticed that my appointment time was showing 2:30PM instead of 3PM. Plus, MyChart still showed me as confirmed for the appointment but for the 2:30PM time of which I was not notified nor confirmed. I called to ask about this and was told my hygienist had a schedule change. I would encourage the team to look into this and improve the processes and systems related to scheduling and communicating.

I am very pleased with my appointments especially at this dental office. I have been a patient there for over 8 years. Ever since I had a bad dental experience somewhere else, I have been at this dental office. Yonie is the best Hygienist that I have ever had, she is friendly and caring along with the staff. I always get my teeth cleaned, X-rays when necessary and the Dentist comes and checks my teeth to see how I’m doing. On my way out, I always receive my new tooth brush kit and easy check out. I would never go elsewhere. Thank you for being there for me and getting me in right away when I’ve needed you for my emergencies!!

What is the Mouth-Body Connection® ?

The Mouth-Body Connection® refers to the link between oral health and overall health, and the role that the harmful bacteria and inflammation in our mouths play in chronic, systemic disease. That’s why it’s time we talked about more than your teeth. Our office prioritizes your overall health as it relates to your oral health. When we care for your smile we’re also looking out for your entire self.
